COVID-19

On March 16, 2020 the Supreme Court of Virginia declared a judicial emergency in response to COVID-19.

Further orders have extended the emergency throughout the summer. Appellate and local court changes are found here.

The Virginia Poverty Law Center has an overview and flowchart on unemployment during the pandemic.

VALegalAid's website hosts a page on housing rights amid COVID-19.

CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky signed an extension to the eviction moratorium further preventing the eviction of tenants who are unable to make rental payments through October 3, 2021. This moratorium has now expired.

The Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (VDHCD) created a webpage on areas affected by COVID-19, such as:

housing crisis, business recovery and broadband.

 

VDHCD provides information about the Va. Rent and Mortgage Relief Program and offers an eligibility questionnaire:

The Virginia Department of Social Services also has a website for resources available to Virginians in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

There is a button labeled Individuals and another for Businesses.
